As Good As The Premium Brands.
29 January 2018
After trying quite a few flavours Vanilla has to be one of my favourites but the Tate and Lyle Fairtrade brand is new to me.
Vanilla Coffee Syrup
is a little touch of luxury.
Like quite a few people I was introduced to these coffee flavourings after trying them out at the Big Brand Coffee shops.
The main brands seemed to be Vedrenne and Monin.
The trouble is that the cost is quite high at the big Supermarkets, normally £3.50 for a 250ml bottle. I used to get mine when the price was reduced to £2.99. (see the moths coming from my wallet).
It was either that or nothing.
Then there are a quite a few varieties.
So you need to ensure that not only the price is right but the flavour too.
A quick search on Amazon and I found quite a few on offer.
I've bought both Vedrenne and Monin from Amazon and both are excellent.
This one by Tate and Lyle is under a fiver so roughly double the cost of 2 bottles of the expensive stuff in price BUT you get 3 times as much.
So I bought 3 bottles of the stuff along with a Gingerbread and Pumpkin Spice type to try.
When you compare the cost to what you would pay extra for a shot of flavour in you coffee shops from Seattle or elsewhere. The chance of buying a bottle and your not liking the flavour is worth the cost.
The big question is it any good?
The simple answer is yes this one really does have a great and a hit of Vanilla.
It compares favourably or should that be flavourably with the big expensive brands.
Even the best coffee can be taken up to a new level by the addition of a couple of spoonfuls of this Vanilla Syrup.
Decaf, instant or freshly brewed all are improved into a deluxe flavour for just pennies.
The bottles are plastic and not as smart as Verdenne's.
(Perhaps we are paying extra for the bottle? Vanity really when they all end up in the recycling skip.)
The good news is that there are a few different flavours the bad news is having the hard task to choose which one to select.
This is a good syrup well worth the risk at under a fiver!
