Top critical review
Almost a 4
24 December 2017
I'll put a **SPOILER ALERT** in early and mention the typos first, so you don't see the plot details. First page almost put me off when it described a room with "2 men and 1 women". There are a couple of places were it says TO instead of TOO and Carver is Caver in one place. That sort of thing. I downloaded it on 1/11/17 so not sure if this is the cleaned up copy or not.
For the most part this book jogged along nicely (kept me turning pages) - but, for me, it fell apart at the end. I can't see that Carver had anything to gain by getting on the chair as the murderer was going to kill the woman anyway - we all knew that. And the bit with the person on the motorbike was a bit laughable. Oh - and I knew whodunnit from about the 25% mark, so a little bit too much telegraphing of the plot.
Otherwise - it wasn't a bad book (I liked the character of Jamie) and I'd try the author again. I try to only give 5* reviews to books that I love so much I'd happily go straight back to the beginning and read again - and, this one, I took a star off for the ending, which spoiled it for me.
