This is a brilliant story, so don't waste your time reading this review, get it now! When you read the first chapter you expect on thing, but then it becomes something completely different, you'll understand what I mean at the end. This is a real page turner, it draws you in and you have to know what happens next. This is an exceptionally well written, highly imaginative, well crafted book, and I highly recommend it.
I've read quite a number of books over the years and this one is certainly one of the most unique reads I've had in a while. Just by having God, Gabriel, Satan and Karma as characters was enough to peak my interest. The story weaves in and out of several plot strands, which had me wondering if it was going to bog down the flow of the story. I'm very pleased to say that it doesn't and I enjoyed the story immensely. This is Samantha Wright's strongest book to date, at times has hints of Pratchett and Adams. I can thoroughly recommend this book and I look forward to the author's next book
About halfway through, the spelling mistakes, missing words and formatting errors become so obvious that it becomes difficult for the story to take hold of your imagination. You're constantly interrupted by the sometimes hilarious spelling, or the need to re-read sentences as you look for the word that is missing or spelt incorrectly.
Shame really as I'm enjoying the read so far - I'm about 75% of the way through, by felt the need to comment after running into my pet hate; the word lose spelt loose.
I'm hoping that all these problems are just a result of poor formatting for the kindle version. If I'd bought a printed copy in the same state, I would have returned it.
I've just finished and bumped the review score up a notch as, despite the scrappy formatting, I still enjoyed the book.
The Ison Delusion takes a look into the unusual world of God, how karma may not be what you think (creating surprising outcomes), and why the Comet Ison could have such a devastating effect on humanity...
The Ison Delusion by Samantha J Wright is a thought provoking read that will make you smile, whilst giving you a few unforeseen twists and turns along the way.
