Mount for 15x70 Binoculars
17 March 2014
I found that I did not like the plastic feel and the lightness of this tripod, you have to make use of the Hook to attach weight to the tripod if you wish to take photos in anything other than a very light wind or use time elapse settings.
I was looking for a tripod that I could attach my Celestron 15x70 binoculars that would be convenient to transport and could also use it with my camera.
Having read a review where the reviewer stated that he had purchased this tripod with the same type of binoculars and that he was very happy with the result I went ahead and purchased the same tripod. After they arrived on the first clear night I attached the binoculars to them but very soon found that the weight of the binoculars was in my opinion, to great for the tripod head to safely support and hold the binoculars still.
I am again back looking for some form of mount for the binoculars, perhaps a Parallelogram Mounting although transporting then would be a more difficult task plus the extra cost!, at least I would know that the binoculars would be safely mounted and usable.
As for the tripod, that is now only used as a spare and restricted for general photograph, a use for which it is suited.
