Cool pop but wobbly classical
26 April 2017
The record player is small, portable and well constructed. The speakers produce sufficient volume to use in a large room (11mx6m). When I played my old pop music from the 70's the quality was really good. The voice had a warmth that was so distinctively different from that heard on CD. This experience rekindled my passion for record players as my favorite music sounded so much better on record than on CD. However, as most of my record collection consists of Classical and Operatic works this player could cope.
Mozard, Vivaldi, Beethoven were a cacophony! Absolutely dreadful! I'm not a sound engineer, but for some reason this machine has been tuned for pop music not symphonic. The operatic voice was superbly rendered, warm, with 'weight' to it, unlike CD's that sound clinical and cold. But start the orchestra and the sound was muddled, muddy, out of tune for some reason. Therefore, I'm afraid this record player would be for our Nana Mouskouri records ( no offence to Nana), and I'm now in the market for a professional record player that can handle Haendel.
