Poor quality recordings for BBC DVD's
on 20 March 2010
There is no doubt that this is great value for money having bought the Life Collection as a Christmas present for our children, BUT the quality of recordings on the copy we received does not do justice to the subject matter. We are using a good quality DVD player with HDMI and the quality of this collection is really quite poor and grainy for DVD discs. For example we already have The Life Of Plants on VHS video and the recording quality is far superior to the DVD version that makes up the Life Collection. Even the DVD recording quality for a semi- recent series (Life in the Undergrowth for example) is poor and grainy.
The best summary would be that the quality suggests the DVD's are poor copies made from a tired and worn out poor master.
Still, a good reference collection to have but it has to be only 3 star rated due to the quality issue.
