I thoroughly enjoyed this book, very well researched, identified evidence I did not know existed, very interesting and even bought a copy for a friend. Looks like the Darwin Medal may need a name change (possibly to 'Advancement In Biology Science', etc.,) and a few more faces added to the medal (including a blank face with a question mark on it, too show 'Credit Is Due To Those Not Recognised' due to sex discrimination, academic achievement not recognised, blocked out of social and economic circles due to social status, no wealth or contacts within too show positive reviews, not achieving sponsorship, commission or tenure to complete the research, etc.,)
To assume that only Darwin ever floated and postulated the ideas from the creation of the first civilisation (through ancient Mesopotamian, Ancient Egypt, Greece, Asia and South America) would be incredibly closed minded and not what I would expect from an open minded scientific community. Yes, Darwin highlighted many ideas that a few years before his publication could have had him removed from his profession due to conflicts on religious grounds and views and opinions of the University deans, with possible fines and imprisonment on grounds of blasphemy, therefore because of this suppression, early work could not have been published, floated and postulated due too a society run on ignorance, anti-intellectualism and chaining to religious texts. We must accept that many other scientists, researchers, self-taught scholars and those who's hobby is science must always be thanked for there relentless interest in science, the quest to ask questions and debate in the open present understandings, whilst showing evidence. We must all accept that research will continuously highlight things about this planet and the universe for years to come. Many may protect Darwin's credibility for the research as this has helped greatly with pushing ignorance, fundamentalist religious views, opinions and 'woo-woo' out of the scientific community, but to prevent credit where it is due shows intolerance for the addition of new evidence, research, investigation and critical thinking that would be counter-productive to a progressive society. Read the book for yourself, a thoroughly enjoyable read...
