Game 5/5 Delivery 2/5
on 31 December 2016
Monikers is a fairly simple game. Players are split into two teams and take it in turn to try and get their teammates to guess a specific person. The person might be a celebrity, or a historical figure, but could also be an internet celebrity, an abstract (e.g. nobody), or even somebody who achieved 15 minutes of fame a couple of years ago.
Play is split into 3 rounds. You will play with the same set of cards throughout the rounds. A round ends when all of the cards have been guessed. In the 1st round you can describe the person in as many words/actions as you like. In the second round you can only use 3 words. In the final round you cant use any words at all.
Play generally gets funnier as the rounds progress and you devolve into (some rather bizarre) charades.
The game itself is very good and nicely packaged. The cards often have interesting/humorous descriptions on them and the rules are fairly easy to understand. It is good fun for a variety of ages (although there are a couple of "rude"/explicit cards which probably wont suite younger players or players who dislike explicit topics).
The reason why I have given this 3 stars is due to the company/delivery. I ordered the game on the 14th November and was given an expected delivery date between the 2nd and 13th December. As this was a Christmas present i thought that this would be adequate time (with some room for error) for the package to arrive. The game did not arrive until late January. There was no interaction from the company during this time. I do not know if this was due to the holiday period or if this is typical of this company, so if this game is being ordered as a gift you should make sure to allow for some (extra) time for it to arrive. The company does advise that it can take up to 24 business days to arrive, but I waited a fair amount longer than that.
I would definitely recommend this game, but maybe don't order it from here if you need it by a certain date.
