the Suicide Squad on a mission
on 20 April 2016
This is a very good animated film. It is the first (and so far only) movie set within the 'Arkham' universe of the Batman videogames. The story of this film takes place some point between 'Arkham Origins' and 'Arkham Asylum'. If you're a fan of the DC animated films, and like the 'Arkham' games, you'll probably enjoy this film.
It's about a group of hardcore criminals - imprisoned convicts who are offered the change to work for a covert US government agency, as a "suicide squad" (to undertake a mission that'll probably end in their deaths) - who are tasked with breaking into Arkham Asylum and stealing some property. Their plans initially go well, until Batman gets involved.
The film involves several interesting characters, in addition to Batman, the Joker and Harley Quinn ... we get to see Deadshot in action, as well as Captain Boomerang and Killer Frost. The animation is great, and the voice acting is excellent. It's adult-oriented, with plenty of violence and some sexual content.
I do think that the film's story could have been developed a little further, with a bit more character development, and perhaps a little more focus on Batman. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
I hope that DC made additional film entries into this saga!
