Worked very well.
on 28 September 2017
Purchased this to clean the inevitable dust spots off my D500. One thing to remember is that not all APS-C sensors are the same size. For example, Nikon crop sensors are slightly larger than crop sensors made by Canon so the swabs were slight narrower than my sensor. This just means it took more than one stroke to cover the entire sensor's surface area. Potentially this increased the risk of scratching, but if you're careful you'll be fine.
The product itself worked well, and cleaned all spots easily enough. I used two swabs in to clean with, one wet then a second to dry. Finish with an air blower and now spot free. I've put over 12k frames on since May in all weather so my sensor was pretty bad but I find frequently cleaning prevents dust becoming too stuck on. Generally I clean every 3 months or 12k frames during the summer or every 6 weeks over winter and that works for me. It takes 20 minutes to do and really easy, just have a steady hand and take your time.
To check if your clean has worked, use a narrow aperture and the lowest ISO setting and take a photo of a piece of white paper, this will show your dust spots. Clean your sensor and take another photo, same settings and then compare. Don't be surprised if you see spots in new places, that's probably just dislodged from somewhere else. Use an air blower and it might come away. If not, repeat the process of swabbing and try again. Repeat until you're happy with the result.
Additional context: I've never had a full sensor clean from just one swab, and usually it takes 3 or 4, but this did it in 2. Happy with that. Less swabbing means less risk of sensor scratches.
