Very different and at times, complicated book but the writing throughout is really detailed, descriptive of events and emotions which draws you in and makes you want to keep reading. Good and bad guys with extraordinary powers and a show of strength and determination by the two main characters who have a great love for each other and their families and close companions. At times, you are never quite sure who or what will win and what the outcome will be. The books do need to be read in order to understand them better and would recommend these if you want something a bit different from the usual magical creatures. Great author.

Read the first as a freebie and enjoyed it so much that I bought the trilogy (rarely leave reviews for books, let alone pay for them!), and was glad to have done so.
Yeah the writing could be viewed as very suited to Young Adult, but I enjoy that style. I like a read that isn't simple, but doesn't require excessive brain power (tend to read before bed), and with this, ended up spending a weekend devouring it. There's twists with the story, interesting ideas. The only bugbear is that as with other supernatural kids stories - more and more elements get added so it can get a big confusing. What I loved most though, is that there's a good ending. Oh I love a good ending, where you feel it was thoroughly worth spending hours reading away, and you finish with a big fat cherry on top.

I bought this on a whim as had nothing to read and it was a low price, so did not expect to much but I was shocked this set is really good and I really enjoyed it, story was fantastic and loved the characters and their relationships, would recommend this sometimes things repeated but it did not spoil it for me.

I read through the trilogy, one book straight after another, and loved every minute of it. It's non-stop action with a good amount of character building. I was frustrated when it was all over...though there was a nice surprise in the back pages.

A little slow & repetitive but not bad. Good initial idea but I think it wouldve been better to edit it down to a single book rather than a trilogy with each book having basically the same story & numerous similar battles.
