All through book one of this series I was dying to get to Brody's story. This man, incarcerated and released broken and changed, fascinated me. He's brooding, anti-social and rude at times. He's also the twin of Hunter from book one.

Brody needs to do some community service as part of his parole but he's already knocked back Alyssa's offer to work at her animal shelter. This man hasn't been touched by another human in kindness for five years and I can say that it made for some of the most wonderful sexual chemistry. Sawyer Bennett excelled herself with the steam in this book. The story was engaging and their connection believable. Such an enjoyable read and this promises to be another good series by this author.

Who knew after the delights of Hunter and Gabby that they could be replaced so easily by Brody and Alyssa. I loved On the Rocks but for me, Brody's story was just magical.

You found out most of Brody's past in On the Rocks but his story and secrets are told in detail in Make it a Double. Brody was cast as being a brooding character in the first instalment of the Last Call series but when you finally get to meet the real Brody in Make it a Double you can help but fall for him. He has suffered and tried to piece his life back together again assuming that for him his HEA will never happen being an troubled ex-con but Alyssa comes along to prove him wrong and to show him that happiness for him really can exist.

Alyssa runs the Haven no-kill animal shelter and struggles on her own to keep on top of the daily tasks. It's with a shelter related problem that she turns to Hunter for his help only to find Brody available instead. Following Brody's outburst about her in the past, Alyssa is reluctant to accept his offer of support but swallows her pride and lets him help her out. Slowly, Brody comes to realise that Alyssa is not who he thought she was and he starts to warm to being in her presence. It doesn't take long for Alyssa and Brody to develop feelings for each other as they work side by side and their story truly begins.

***"You are one seriously gorgeous man, Brody. Every woman that comes in Last Call drools in your wake. I can't believe you don't know that."***

Alyssa herself has her own problems but Brody is there to support her and to keep her safe. As the two start opening up to each other you get an idea of what has prevented them from trusting people in their lives.

Alyssa and Brody's relationship is off the walls hot but also sweet and tender and you feel every nuance of their emotions as you read their story.

This book ends on a HEA and it is recommended to be read after On the Rocks.

Like many of of Sawyer Bennett's readers I felt Brody's dark intensity made him the most attractive male in On the Rocks, that and an obviously torturous past which the reader is merely allowed small glimpses of.
Make It a Double, is Brody's story, as he struggles to become part of Outer Banks society after five years in prison. As the second in a series (although they can be read as stand-alones) Sawyer Bennett does not feel the need to reintroduce her reader to characters and figuratively stepping into The Last Call bar is as comfortable as walking into a local pub at home!
To fulfill his community service obligations Brody eventually decides to volunteer at The Haven, a no-kill animal shelter, owned by one of his sister's best friends, Alyssa. Despite past issues between the two he cannot deny the chemistry and obvious attraction. After an altercation with a connection to his past he is forced to trust Alyssa with the biggest secret he has and it is from this point that their relationship develops.
Sawyer Bennett keeps her reader anticipating more, not just because of the HOT sex and descriptions of Brody's yummy body, but the building suspense of the side plot-line which puts their romance in danger.
I LOVED Make It a Double and the emotional way Sawyer Bennett brings Brody to the realization he is good enough; the final chapters were tissue worthy!
More please!!
I received this as a complimentary review copy, but this has had no influence on my opinion.

I gave Make It A Double 4.5 Stars.

"Brody's body continues to quiver as he holds me tight . . .It is simply the most beautiful experience of my life, and I just kissed my soul goodbye for good."

I was looking forward to Brody's story; from book one I could tell that behind his dark, brooding exterior there was more to Brody and his story. Brody is finding it hard to adjust to life on the outside as he has just been released from prison. His family are desperate for the old Brody to return but in order for that to happen Brody has issues and confessions from his past to expel first.

One person on Brody's radar is Alyssa Myers, Brody is quick to judge her as just another trust fund brat but once he sees the determined, hard worker that Alyssa is, Brody might just realise how perfect she is for him all along. Alyssa offers Brody happiness he could only dream of and she shows him it is exactly what he deserves.

I loved Brody in this story! Just like I knew I would. He came off as harsh and antisocial but it was his way of protecting himself. I liked Alyssa immediately and the animal shelter was incorporated well into the story, it suited both Brody and Alyssa perfectly.

I am a fan of Sawyer's writing and always have been, I find it so easy to pick up one of her books. The story flowed well and I didn't feel parts were rushed nor was Brody and Alyssa's relationship. I enjoyed the dual point of view and found Brody and Alyssa to be two very endearing characters that I was rooting for from the start. Brody was an unsung hero, he made a split decision for love and it changed his course with devastating consequences. However, he showed strength and resilience as he fought hard to put the past behind him and carve out a new future.

Brody and Alyssa had great chemistry and plenty of hot moments, but it was well balanced with just as many tender moments as Brody opened up to Alyssa and trusted her with the story of his past. Hunter and Gabby made an appearance from book one but this story can be read as a standalone quite easily. I stayed up to the wee hours of the morning to finish this one, it just had a great vibe to it and I couldn't put it down.

The epilogue was truly sweet and left me with a big smile on my face. I do look forward to the series continuing. I'm thinking Brody and Hunter's sister, Casey's story may be next? If so, I look forward to getting to know her character better.

Make It A Double was a fun and easy read. It had likeable characters and a good storyline. Definitely one to check out today! ~Ava

Make it a Double is book 2 in The Last Call Series.
We first met Brody when he was a broody brother just released from prison in On The Rocks.
All he wants is to be left alone so he can get on with his life in his own quiet way and the last thing he wants is Alyssa in his life.
Alyssa offers him the opportunity of doing his community service at The Haven her no kill shelter for animals he losses it and calls her some pretty nasty names. After some serious thinking and having to help her out of a tight fix when no one else is around he decides The Haven would work for his community service.
Through their love of animals they form a close relationship. She see's the soft side of Brody, He now see's Alyssa is not a uptight rich girl. All is going well until faces from their past come back to haunt them ...........
This story will have you laughing and crying, It is a story about Friendship, Love, Faith, Forgiveness and Trust .........
Sawyer Bennett has given us yet another great series and although this book can be read as a standalone i would suggest you read On The Rocks first.
I loved it and can't wait for more from The Last Call Series
I was given this book by the author for a honest review

MAKE IT A DOUBLE is the second instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult, erotic LAST CALL romance series focusing on a group of family and friends in and around Hatteras Island, North Carolina. This is Brody Markham and Alyssa Myers’s storyline. Brody is the twin brother of Hunter Markham whom we met in book one –On The Rocks. Following his release after five years in prison for vehicular manslaughter, Brody finds himself lost in a world of which he was once a part. Working as a bartender for his brother at Last Call, Brody is both equally repelled and attracted to his sister’s childhood friend Alyssa but Alyssa is now a woman who reminds him of everything that he has lost.

The focus of the storyline is the enemies to friends to lovers relationship of Brody and Alyssa. Needing a community service assignment Brody will volunteer his time at Alyssa’s ‘No Kill Animal Rescue Shelter’ placing him in the direct path of temptation.

There is a definite attraction between our couple but one that is tempered by Brody’s past; his five years in prison; and a secret that he hid behind bars. When Alyssa discovers the truth, she enters a heartbreaking journey where she will fall in love with the man who believes himself broken and destroyed.

MAKE IT A DOUBLE is a revealing look at what some people will do to protect those that they love. It is a storyline that will break your heart when two people are forced to face the reality of their pasts; crazy exes; and the truth about family and friends. It is a story about betrayal and loss; friendship and love; letting go and moving on.

The world building continues with the inclusion of most of the previous storyline characters who bring a familiarity to the reader. Their lives, their loves and their connections to one another are believable, seductive and dramatic. The family and friends from Last Call are intensely protective of the people that they love.

Sawyer Bennett pulls the reader into an intense and emotional storyline where passionate nights lead to intimate days. Make It A Double is a story about the love of a family for a son whose heart and soul were broken by a turn of events that never should have happened.

This is one of those great love stories that goes from enemies to friends to lovers relationship and I loved it.
I fell for Brody in the previous book on the rocks, I loved Hunter don’t get me wrong but there was just that dark brooding element about Brody that draws you to him.
You get a lot of Brody’s back story in on the rocks, but Sawyer give you so much more in make it a double.
Your heart aches for Brody as his story unveils, but it’s not just Brody you feel for it his whole family and friends too it’s what hurt pain and anger everyone involved suffered at the hands of selfish people.

Alyssa is a great character and so not what Brody expected from the rich heiress, I loved her character so much.
Alyssa and Brody’s relationship is hot and sexy but also sweet and tender, you feel every nuance of their emotions as you read on through their story.

I loved how this whole story played out, even with Alyssa’s crazy ex thrown in there for a bit of extra action. The scene where Brody shared his secret with his family and friends made me cry such a touching moment.

This book shows what some people will do to protect those that they love, and Brody sure did, he paid the price too.

The ending to this book was priceless with both girls looking in the refrigerator! Brody and Hunter awesome double act, there couldn’t have been a better way to end this book and I cannot wait for more from this series.

The interaction between the characters and the love shown by them all drew me in. Gabby and Hunter. I loved the way Brody slowly began to interact with Alyssa, his very casual one liners and then more. The scene where Brody interrupts the girls' breakfast, I just felt it. The way Casey can bump her shoulder into Brody, you can see it happening, makes that and many other chapters in the book become real.

I would love to see it on screen. Please make it a movie.

This was a really sweet story, about lies, deception, love, and finding your way back from darkness. Brody does just that when he is released from prison after 5 years, he feels confused and unable to get past his feelings of loneliness and shame but when he finally sees Alyssa for the kind hearted person she is instead of the rich princess he mistakes her for things change in his life. Alyssa sees the real Brody and he can't help but start to feel like he can have a life after all.
I enjoyed this book, the story, plot and characters are great, the idea that such love can come from tragedy is lovely. Brody and Alyssa have an amazing connection and although they both have demons each gives to the other to move past them. This book has, history, angst, love, humour, friendship and sex, which is hot. It was a great feel good story which was well written and made you empathise with the characters. Would recommend.

I love this series. The first book, On The Rocks, was a cracking start to it all. Now we have the second book about Brody and Alyssa. These two are such beautifully written characters. Brody made my heart hurt because he was so damaged but strong and ...Wow...Brody Markham has entered my top 5 Heroes list. Alyssa is one of the best heroines I have read about. Her strength and kindness and absolute determination to defend Brody was just breath taking. The heat between these two becomes apparent and is well developed through the story.
Finally...the EPILOGUE!!!! Just gorgeous! All round fantastic story.
