I originally bought this for my late father who had MND and was becoming increasingly immobile. Alas he passed away within a few months of purchase. I started using it for catchup TV where I would cycle for 3 hours whilst catching up on my favourite shows. Pretty soon I started using it whenever I was watching TV. It provides light exercise and burns calories - I estimate about 200-300 calories per hour which soon adds up. I then thought about combining it with a height adjustable desk to create a cycle desk, allowing me to exercise while I work. In fact you end up with a very comfortable cycle desk. Using the bike for work, I get about 3-4 hours of exercise a day without even leaving my desk - about 600 to 1200 calories a day! An excellent way to lose weight and build leg muscle. Make sure you adjust the seat position so that you still have a bend in the knee when your leg is extended. If your knee starts clicking then your seat position is wrong, or you are splaying your legs or your cadence is insufficient. It was tricky putting the bike together - but only because I was doing it wrong.
