This is an exceptional set released on Record Store Day that contains all the singles by The Action and some others that could have been released if the public had actually bought their records in sufficient numbers. Quite possibly the greatest British band that never made it, the music on these singles is some of the finest I have ever heard. Produced by the Legendary George Martin, originally on Parlophone, these singles have now been given beautiful period style picture covers rather than company sleeves. There are eight singles in all, although one has three songs on it! The set comes with a poster, download code, sticker and a very well printed and high quality booklet about the history of the band.
Why is this band so good? Well, the lead singer simply has one of the greatest soul voices I have ever heard. Period. The rest of the band provide a great sound to back up Reg King (lead singer). The production sounds so modern, it's incredible. I just played this to my girlfriend who thought it had been recorded recently!
There are no problems with the vinyl at all. All pressings sound lively, dynamic and free from faults. The only thing I have done extra is to buy anti static sleeves to put the records in before inserting into the picture sleeves, to avoid any potential scuffing. This is a set I will treasure for the rest of my life. A real winner.
