A well written book introducing enthralling characters in the first of the trilogy. The story is mysterious from the onset and grips the reader into wanting to know more about the character Elena, her neighbours and the community around them. The mysterious tone and undercurrent feeling that all is not as it seems make it a real page turner.
I always judge how good a book is by how quickly I read it... with this first book I stayed up several hours later than I intended, to finish reading it. Looking forward to the next book.

Elena is a character that leaves you wanting to know more about her. A mixture of reality, tarot cards and a charismatic community makes Borderliners a unique read. Its suspense leads you to the conclusion that there is more at play in this world, than we like to think. I look forward to 'Split symmetry' to be re-acquainted with Elena.

Borderliners hooks you in right from the start, building up the tension as you wonder just what Elena has stumbled into in the country village she has come to work in. Why are her patients dying? Who can she save? Who can she trust? The kind of book you gobble up in one sitting.

Gripping, Unflinching, Intelligent!

Kirsten Arcadio's debut novel 'Borderliners' takes us on an incredible journey to a rustic village in the British Midlands. Elena, a successful psychotherapist from the city, moves to the village in anticipation of a peaceful existence, but what she encounters in the cobbled streets and sleepy houses shocks her beyond measure, shaking the very roots of her existence. A gripping tale with elements of occult, and powerful characters, Borderliners is an out and out thriller with a generous dose of fine literary prose which is why it gets a 5 star rating from me.

Arcadio demonstrates an unflinching control over her plot and characters, and gets into the meat of the story from gut-wrenching first chapter itself, after which she slowly unveils the story leading the reader to the heart-pounding climax. Borderliners is the kind of novel that you would want to read, and then reread just to capture the careful nuances, thoughtful expressions, and most of all, the lyrical prose.

Kirsten Arcadio manages to delve into the intricacies and secret cults in villages, revealing that even tranquil surfaces can hide turbulent waters beneath. The main characters of the novel are well fleshed-out with each character contributing to the overall plot, each subplot reverberating to the original plot, in carefully-managed symmetry. It is very rare these days to find novels that don't veer off the main plot to discover the life and times of minor characters, but with Borderliners, Arcadio stays true to the literary promise of sticking to the main story, only adding subplots to bolster the overall plot. In spite of bearing shades of the timeless Good Vs. Evil storyline, Borderliners offers so much more, and manages to shock you at every juncture. The New Age shop, the shaky musings of Tony, the dynamics between Julia and Elena… every character of tis intelligent novel sets the scene on fire.

Borderliners is a novel I would heartily recommend to readers of thrillers and occult, but this shouldn't let purveyors of literary fiction hesitate. Arcadio's beautiful prose will even blow the most seasoned literary fiction readers off their feet.

Currently available on Amazon as an ebook and paperback, Borderliners is a novel that simply cannot be missed, but is made to be devoured page by page! Read it!

The reader is gradually drawn into world of psychological mystery and suspense by the author’s illuminating descriptions of people and places. The tension rises as Elena finds the boundary between reality and nightmares is becoming blurred and threatening. A real page turner as the reader needs gets more and more concerned over Elana’s situation and wants to know how it will end. A psychological thriller that is more intense and intellectual than the norm and will appeal to readers, who like high quality writing.

Borderliners is a fantastic page turner. Following the rather hapless Elena, the story pulls you along its twists and turns. The characters jump out at you: they're both chilling and intriguing and you wonder what's waiting for you around each corner. Kirsten Arcadio has created a story which will make you want to return to the start of the book. Rumour has it, her second's out soon. Can't wait to read that one.

An enjoyable and highly suspenseful supernatural thriller which explores some thought-provoking themes. Elena, a psychotherapist and newcomer to a village community, follows her suspicions about her neighbours who appear to be leaders of a religious cult infiltrating the community preying on mentally vulnerable people, controlling them by promising them a life of meaning but eventually taking everything away from them. The characters are interesting and expertly drawn and the stylishly descriptive prose keeps the story atmospheric and suspenseful. There are plenty of nail-biting plot twists plus a romantic thread and a fascinating insight into the occult in this gripping debut novel. I look forward to reading the next book in the trilogy.

A very engaging page turner, with quite a few unexpected twists. The narrative delves into the complex world of mental health and the vulnerability that this entails. There are many fast paced moments involving the main character Elena where she is being pursued by an invisible evil that is quite frightening. Elena village and local community have a very familiar apparent normality, which as the thriller unfolds left me with an increasing sense of unease. Highly recommended and I look forward to the rest of the trilogy.

The first novel from Kirsten Arcadio is a gripping read . Thought provoking and full of suspense, I could not put it down. I enjoyed the build up of the characters with their different relationships and the references to a deeper spiritual reality added to the intrigue. Loved the twist at the end too. Looking forward to book number 2.
