ok stuff but getting tired
on 30 March 2014
Jim is an old school Scottish Socialist. Nothing wrong with that but he has adapted his long held views to the current referendum debate -and it doesn't work as the 'new' issues like EU membership and the currency debate require a greater and deeper political analysis than he has given us. Perhaps he had half finished the book then discovered that the referendum was almost upon us thus the last few sketchy paragraphs only outlining thoughts and two line solutions.
Jim talks a bit like George Galloway in his 'just say NAW' road show - 'a man who wants to build an independent Scottish Socialist Republic- but not right now! It is a marvellous idea its just that its time either hasn't yet come or it has come and gone' - There is no great demand for it in a Scotland which sees Independence from UK (England) as a means to building the kind of country we aspire to be using what is realistically 'winnable' , politically and economically. The 'revolution' will take time both to develop and mature. It will be worth it and I won't be surprised in time if Scotland ends up in the same solution area as Jim wishes, it will simply take a different path to getting there, and will be a wee bit different......................and I,m sure Jim knows this.
