The best album from the UK punk IMO. It's a crossover bit of metal and punk. First time I heard this album on a cassette tape. Blown me out instantly! Now I'm owning this on vinyl. It's more worthy in my collection!
FEROCIOUS 1990 release! Full on Crossover (metal/hardcore/punk) album. VERY aggressive, fast songs and yet catchy with strong riffs. The album has a decent production, with an interesting use of audio samples from news broadcasts, such as the 1990 Poll Tax Riot. The lyrics are a mix of personal & social politics, together with more out to shock offerings such as Porno Slut. Obviously, some of this feels dated, but the music itself doesn't! The vocals are VERY impassioned from Wattie Buchan, full of pent up anger and raw emotion, and the band is musically tight. There is some cool lead work to back the riffs, drums are not overly technical but are precise and pacey and the bass is high in the mix, with a GREAT tone, and some extremeley dominant bass lines. This is an album that will appeal to Metallica fans who like the Discharge/ANL covers and it's easy to see how the band has appealed to such Thrash acts as Death Angel!! Highlights; The Massacre (brutal!), Boys In Blue, Dont Pay The Poll Tax, Police Sh*t.
Might be their best album ever. Blew me away when I was in high school. Started looking for it 2 years ago when I found the cassette tape I had lying around. Hard to find, nice to have. In all honesty : I don't have any of their other albums, so YMMV.
