I'm a bit late to the party with Freedom to Glide and wonder how on earth I missed this gem of an album.

There are obvious Floyd and Roger Waters influences, and in fact the guys play in a Floyd tribute band, but there is enough originality and downright brilliant songwriting and playing to make this an absolute gem....

It is simply sublime and has a wonderful atmosphere, message and tone.

Highly recommended, as is there recent release 'Rain' which takes all the good things on this album and develops them further,

Am I the only one who has heard this and the Rain EP. Its the first time that I have ever reviewed anything on Amazon, but someone needs to get this ball rolling.
Think Floyd, PTree, the more melodic ,stuff and a bit of RWPL. Its simply delightful. Go the website and you can hear the EP in full. If that does not make you buy it, you are not a Prog fan

Another absolute gem of an EP from these guys! A 23 minute taster that's over too quickly and leaves you wanting more. They may not be well known - but they should be! Freedom to Glide certainly know what they doing here, so many independent musicians take inspiration from interesting topics and then produce great music. The sad thing is too many young people are fed and accept mainstream dross.
Having played in a Pink Floyd tribute band those influences are sometimes evident, but with extra themes and stylings added into the musical mix. Taking a variety of themes from WW1 and exploring the horror, the wasteful losses, the consequences for the "survivors". Don't assume the serious subject matter means dark, heavy, sad etc music. It's all nicely balanced with thoughtful lyrics.
Their own website has a section about the relative's experiences that became part of their inspiration for this and connected releases. Plus the recent 100 year anniversary brought the human story back into focus and makes us think how much progress has been made (or not).
Check out the reviews of "Rain" on Amazon, all the tracks on this EP are rewarding. Listen to their other work on YouTube. There's 2 price options to buy some of their well crafted music here and that means the band might create some more for us to enjoy. I had great service from Ruby Storm.
