I have now read all 6 parts of this epic thriller. My heart was pounding in my chest at times, and it led to many sleepless nights when I could not put it down. I am now left feeling drained from all the excitement and suspence . I need a break from the tension with a soft 'chick-lit' just to get my breath back. Keep doing what you are doing Mr Iles, I look forward to the next book

This is a story which gives insight into a sad broken society in the Deep South. The Vietnam veterans seem to have never shed the camaraderie, total loyalty to each other and combat skills are employed as what they see as hobbies. Some of the description are quite graphic portraying a group of men as almost "inhuman".
I liked the style of the story: how events in the past is still influencing the present and impacting the present day lives of the characters.
I liked the character Penn Cage and will read further stories by Greg Iles
PS I am British and know very little about the U.S, war in Vietman.
