This is a nice easy romantic read which follows the usual path. Amy is a thirty-one year old primary school teacher who's single after breaking up with her boyfriend Ben, now Ben's moved on quicker than Amy could have imagined or likes which hurts but then she begins to notice her tall, handsome, and fit neighbour Marine Corps Captain Jason Patterson and wonders why she's never noticed him before. I personally wasn't struck on Melissa, Amy's friend I felt too much time was spent on her at the expense of Amy and Jason. I was confused initially about Amy and Bens breakup since it didn't seem to make sense but this is explained so hang in there. Amy also overreacted big style about something. So this is a quick ok romance with a couple of nice characters it ended a bit abruptly for me but I suspect their story will continue in the background of future books.
Odd thing here and there was a bit annoying, such as the heroine seeming to think the hero should have blurted out all his life story in the 2 weeks or so they had been getting to know each other.
Not sure why we got the odd few paragraphs from the POV of her friend, when there was no resolution for her.
And something being mentioned late on in the book, with absolutely no hint whatsoever that it had happened previously, felt like it was added late on as an afterthought to make the heroines reaction to the hero not mentioning something more understandable.
Read and enjoyed this light romance. Not much about marines, thats really just his occupation. Jason is really nice and considerate. Only bugbear, why would amy get upset with him because he didnt mention ex or son? They were at start of relationship, things get disclosed the more a relationship develops. Conversely he could say her disclosure during fight should have been disclosed before they went anywhere. It was more pertinent to whether a guy would want a relationship with her not vice versa. She was being precious. The ending was a bit abrupt. Besides that was very enjoyable and will look to read more from this author. I didnt notice any typos, repetition or inconsistencies which is great for a kindle book.Well done Makenna. 21.4.16. Re-read. Still enjoyed it. Will re-read all her books I have.
