Having missed being there for the live performance, I enjoyed this recording. I'm afraid that although Mr Beeching's diction and delivery was excellent, I found it hard at times to hear the words, possibly a problem with the sound system.
I do think he puts in an amazing performance, a master of 'quick-change' and he seemed to have boundless energy and enthusiasm. I very much enjoyed the interview extra which was interesting and informative. The costumes were a joy - very authentic.

A filmed live performance is obviously never quite as good as being in the theatre and seeing it live, but this is well-filmed and well worth watching. The production is well-written and produced and Christopher Beeching makes an excellent George Leybourne. The result is superb! The variety of the different costumes, the quality of the music and Beeching's sheer vitality transports us back to the days of the Victorian music hall.
George Leybourne, we learn, often appeared at a number of different halls on the same night. I can imagine Beeching having the same energy! For the length of this performance, Beeching IS Champagne Charlie!
The whole thing is great fun - the result of brilliant team work!
