With a truly superb new album ('New') in the bag, this concert was a great opportunity for Macca to perform in a relatively intimate location and blend some of his great new material like 'New', 'Save Us' and the exquisite 'Queenie Eye' with classic Macca material. He even throws in a couple of surprises like kicking off with 'Eight Days A Week' and slipping in 'Junior's Farm' and 'Being For The Benefit of Mr Kite'. OK, so the voice isn't as full as it was, but the songs are beyond comparison and his band never short of superb. Thanks, Macca, for this and just about everything really.

His voice may be on the way out a bit but the band sound amazing and song selection is utterly brilliant including some Wings and early tracks he's not done for years and years. A great set including:

Coming Up
Juniors Farm
1985
Another Day
Benefit of Mr Kite
Eight Days A Week

This was an excellent programme on the box last year (2013), and is recommended to any fan who missed seeing it. It's basically the broadcasted one-hour TV studio concert, which includes an excellent mix of unexpected Beatles songs and choice tracks from his brilliant then-new album "New". The band, as per usual for Macca's stable 21st century line up, is exemplary. This release also includes an extra 49 minutes of backstage footage, interviews, etc., from the event, and the concert is presented in anamorphic 16:9.

The stealth downside is these are full price releases, advertised and packaged to look like DVDs, but the actual discs are only single-layer DVD-Rs. This, of course, means they may not archive for as long as proper DVDs. Also the image quality is very slightly short of the original standard definition broadcast (I still had it recorded to compare), due to slight compression to accommodate the total running time onto a single layer DVD-R burn. The sound quality is, however, excellent.

Recommended, with possible reservations..
