“You are my best friend!” [Sadie]
on 21 September 2015
In this 2014 psychological thriller wealthy Kevin (Billy Zane) is cheating on his young girlfriend Sadie (AnnaLynne McCord) with her only friend Jennifer (Viva Bianca). Sadie goes to stay for the weekend and confides to Jennifer she thinks Kevin is going to propose to her, but when she discovers sexy texts on his phone –from Jennifer, things take a dramatic turn as Sadie comes off her tranquillisers.
All the main characters –and there are basically only three till the end, are well acted stereotypes; Sadie is the monster girlfriend everyone should fear, her rage only kept in check by her medication. Kevin is the laid back self centred rich guy whose just pleasure chasing and Jennifer is the kind of self serving friend you can do without. Yet I couldn’t help feel the women were cast in the wrong parts. The film is a let down in the first 15 minutes as you are instantly informed of the affair and then thrown into a flashback to explain it [lose a *] whereas it could have benefited with 5 minutes relating the girls friendship which would then have made the film harder hitting as it’s difficult to ’like’ any of them.
At under £3 it’s worth a watch but it’s nothing special and can’t be described as a horror although it can be unpleasant.
The only features are the 2.0 or 5.1 audio. I’d like to give *** but it was entertaining throughout with no real dull spots after the story kicks in so it’s a grudging **** -barely, for the film suffers from trying to hit the middle ground so will not please slasher/gore horror fans and feels more like a made for TV effort.
