Seriously Good Music
on 3 August 2017
This is a simply lovely, piano-driven collection of live recordings. The sound quality is immaculate, so that you would hardly guess it was live were it not for the audience response at the end of each piece. Some of the tracks are beautifully meditative, but have a cumulative power, with the outstanding 'Says' a superb example of this, as Frahm's melodies & rhythms build to a glorious climax. 'Hammers' is another excitingly vivid exploration of the keyboard's potential, which for me had some echoes of Keith Jarret's 'Koln Concert'.
Other pieces are beautifully restrained & tranquil, sometimes focussing solely on keyboards, and without synthesiser & other electronica.
Simply lovely stuff, and with a running time of some 78 minutes, a really generous selection.
