An insult to great singers and utterly grotesque too.

This is a pile of garbage. How dare the people responsible for this trash claim that such caterwaulers as Susan Boyle, Sarah Brightman (anyone remember her serenading Boccelli, who must thank the Lord he couldn't see her, on BBC Television in a rendition in Italian of 'Memory', which is one of the most hilarious things ever shown - seek it out if it's on You Tube, it's a gem of awfulness),Il Divo, Richard and Adam, Jonathan and Charlotte or Rhydian can be considered in the same league as Maria Callas,Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, Shirley Verrett or Monserrat Caballe to name but a few. It is an insult to the latter. I doubt any of the former could even sing 5 minutes of say a Puccini aria or anything by Wagner or Richard Strauss which is what Classical Voices do. No this is a CD for people who just want to believe they are listening and appreciate 'Classical' Music because they think it makes them superior. No doubt those who justify the issue of this type of trash will cl;aim it is an introduction to Opera - which it is NOT. Just how many people will go on to actually buy a CD of 'Opera's Greatest Hits'(one of those compilations of the popular bits) is debateable. Very, very few indeed and even fewer will go on to buy CDs of one of the more popular Operas (Carmen, chock full of good tunes, for instance). This is just another excuse to boost the egos of two-bit 'singers' by conning them into believing they are in the same league as great opera singers and con the public they are bringing a bit of culture into their lives - which they are not. The only way to really 'get into' opera is to familiarise yourself with one of the more popular ones and go on from there. Better still, jump in at the deep end. Have a go at one of the more abrasive 20th Century works and if you don't like it initially then persevere or go to a live performance. Whatever you do don't waste your money on this type of cliche-ridden CD.
