If you know anyone with a beard and sandals who sits in a group in a pub once a week with music books and an old guitar, lamenting how folk music is dead, buy them this.
This is a taster of of how alive, exciting and brimming with talent the genre is. If anyone tells you folk music is described in an insignificant piece of paper written in 1954, refer them to me and I will shout at them for you.
Brilliant stuff. Mark Radcliffe has a large pair of shoes to fill in Mike Harding, but he is getting there, and Mike does an internet folk show anyway, so I am happy twice.

Mark Radcliffe hosts The Folk Show on BBC Radio 2, broadcast weekly, which includes frequent specially recorded live sessions. Although not comprehensive, this is a nice selection of those performances from 2013. If you listen to the show regularly there may be omissions that you regret, but that isn't so much a criticism as a statement of the obvious. It is a nice selection and, by its nature, won't duplicate recordings you own already. My only regret is that this product isn't a physical CD with information about the artists and performances. Then again, my dislike of downloads isn't much help in a download review! Buy this product and encourage them to repeat the process next year.
