Good deveice but early failure replaced efficiently by manufacturer

Our two cats, one full grown and one of about 4 months, both learned to use the catflap with a little assistance - no problem over the rather loud click as it operates. It worked perfectly for just over two months. Then, one night earlier this week, I heard a succession of "bumps" from the flap which were a little unusual, but I didn't think any more of it at the time. The next morning I found the young cat still inside the house, which was unusual - and unfortunate evidence suggesting she had tried to get out unsuccessfully. On testing the flap I found that it was detecting the microchips on the cats but no longer releasing the flap - and it was not possible to set the flap to manual operation because this requires an initial electronic release. I changed batteries and tried a factory reset, but with no result. I then telephoned SureFlap Customer Service and explained the problem and they immediately agreed to send me a replacement, which arrived this afternoon, within 24 hours. This has now been fitted and is working satisfactorily.
So, full marks for customer service - but very disappointing that the unit failed within just over two months. I hope I do not need to add a further review saying that the replacement also failed, because these are not inexpensive units...
