Those pesky varmints

I was about to give this item a 5 star review, but I hadn't waited till the end of the day! Squirrels are dedicated thieves. They particularly go for my sunflower hearts and rather than stop buying the sunflower hearts I've tried numerous designs of bird feeder. Squirrels easily chew through plastic, so any exposed plastic really won't last long. They also hang on wire mesh feeders and either make them fall apart or make them sprinkle their contents all over the lawn. This feeder really looked to be the best yet. But after a few hours I was amazed to see that a squirrel had managed to unscrew the top, letting it fall to the ground, and was busily feeding from the top. So then I examined the way this thing has been assembled. The top is pushed down and sideways and if you push too hard it forces the lower assembly to come apart. I've done what I can to tighten these fittings by bending the metal a little. The ideal feeder would have a screw fit, rather than a simple "bayonet" push and twist fit. The ideal feeder might not yet have been invented. I'm reinforcing it with parcel tape. The war is not yet over. If necessary I shall buy every feeder there is, rather than give in.
