Anita O'Day has been a very late discovery for me. I must thank Michael Parkinson for introducing me to her music. What can one say that has not already been said? I can only add more accolades to her amazing voice, vocal style and song interpretations. Sadly she is no longer with us, but her music lives on with her many great recordings.

WHY??
This is one of the BEST set of recordings I have ever heard.

Anita O'day is now - UNDESERVEDLY AND SADLY- largely
ignored and forgotten in the world of Jazz....I mean, how many
people have even HEARD of Anita O'Day?
No, She's not Ella Fitzgerald or Billie Holiday, but she has
many qualities that often put those two better known singers
in the SHADE...She's quite unique, and of all the great singers
of her era, she's my favourite - creative, plucky and honest
in her richly varied tones - I have to say, if my house was
ever on fire, I'd have to rescue this volume first!

Quality and value very good. Only criticism I would make is that no track information comes up when playing the cds and there is no information with the packaging on the different line-ups.

Bought it for A nightingale sang in Berkley Square and ended up with 75 numbers. We saw the Anita O'Day video and that sparked my interest. Not all the recordings are to my liking but there certainly is some good stuff there. Anita is good but she is not Ella.
