Pretty good, just a few minor issues...
on 22 January 2015
In short: Good camera. It's not a GoPro, but it punches well above its price range. Unless you absolutely need a top of the range camera (and willing to pay accordingly), this will be an excellent (and much cheaper) option.
Only used in testing so far, will update once it's been subjected to the French alps at the end of Feb.
Wifi connect works great and is actually much easier to setup the camera through that than the on screen interface. To be expected really when you have a nice touch screen interface that's many times the size but it's also little things like being able to set the time on the camera to that of your device. Using your device as a viewfinder does lag by a second or so but it lets you start/stop videos/take pics etc as if you pressed the buttons directly on the camera. Wifi is always turned off when the camera turns on, it's the one setting I've found that isn't remembered (good otherwise you'd kiss goodbye to your battery even quicker!)
2.5 hours to charge a battery fully. They charge inside the camera with supplied 1A MicroUSB charger, standard as you'd expect these days. Assuming you don't exclusively use those fruit based devices, you've probably already got a few of these lying around so don't worry if the charger fails... they're everywhere.
Same 2.5 hours to recharge the wrist remote (works excellently as well btw), similarly micro USB and the kit includes a 2nd micro usb cable that you could plug into a computer/laptop/other usb mains charger to charge at the same time.
A few minor issues noted so far...
1) 60 FPS @ 1080p works great ... EXCEPT...
If you use the "camera upside down" option it gets limited to 30fps for some unknown reason. You loose 48, 50 and 60fps as options. Chest mount kit works best with the camera upside down (as gravity has already done its job and you don't need to go crazy tight on the mount arms to keep it upright) so this on its own is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.
2) Waterproof casing has a large hinge on the bottom that protrudes enough to mount point in the center of that side if trying to mount horizontally (see pic attached!)
3) Battery. I knew this one before purchase, so not going to score it down but it's worth noting that the battery life is a mere 90 mins at best. Less if in cold conditions or you frequently start/stop recording or turn it on/off repeatedly. Given other cameras have an extra hour over this... it's a bit on the poor side. On the positive side, and the reason for not scoring down, is that spare batteries are REALLY cheap. I bought two 3rd party ones which work just as well as the Toshiba one.
All in all, I have no regrets buying it. Except the lack of 60fps upside down it's exactly what I needed.
