One of the best music books I've ever read. Rich Podolsky has done a lot of research to write such an amazing piece of pop memorabilia. From Neil's early days and his momma Eleanor's almost Svengali like influence, to his song writing partners, his early success and then his nosedive into almost total USA obscurity brought about by a band of young upstarts known as The Beatles. The fact that his momma and her lover squandered thousands of dollars of Neil's money, when he needed it most, didn't help. But Neil would not give up and moved to England to ensure a much reduced but necessary income to maintain his family. The UK did not shun Neil like the USA and he toured the working men's clubs of the UK and Australia, with his wife Leba being his on tour manager, before once again being accepted by the US record spinners and producers. A lot of credit must go to Elton John for having faith in Neil and taking a calculated gamble by putting out Neil's music through Rocket Records. A truly heart warming book and a fantastic insight into one of the world's most talented singer/songwriter musicians. One BIG gripe. The book is of excellent print quality but the proof reading appears to be non existent. Yes. It may have been spell checked by a computer but some of the the printing errors are appalling. So five stars for the book. But a grudging 2 stars for lack of care on the publishing side.
