Firstly, given the age of these recordings the sound quality is very good, however IMO clean digital is not how these recordings should be presented. Vinyl would be king here.
John's Children would not be famous today without the connection to Marc Bolan. Some say they were the first punk band, however not in my book. And being honest, some of the tracks are, IMO, really poor and a struggle to listen to.
You can usually work out the Bolan input because the tracks are noticeably better. In particular, Midsummer Night's Scene where Bolan's vocals rescue the track from mediocre level. Desdemona is presented here in it's true banned glory, but by today's standards it is really tame.
If you are a fan of Marc Bolan it is an essential purchase.
being a huge Bolan fan i thought this would be a great compilation of the Johns children stuff some great Marc stuff on here but you have to listen to the other stuff from them without Marc on, witch can be a little Boring at times , but nice to here Desdemona / come and play with me in the garden and the rare single midsumer night scean. go go girl and the rest.
