Somewhat disappointed, and am sorry to have to say that!
on 22 October 2013
I absolutely loved "Together", and had high hopes for Perhaps Love. Right when I received the CD from the UK, I popped it into my computer and ripped it down to mp3. The first thing I noticed was that the songs are not all "Jonathan & Charlotte". Rather, only seven songs are duets; the rest are split between individual solos.
In the thank you note section, Jonathan thanks Charlotte, and wishes her success in whatever her future endeavors are. I took that to mean this will be their last album together; perhaps Jonathan finally listened to Simon when he asked if he thought Charlotte would hold him back. Too bad!
Lastly, the song choices. These managers who get involved in groups and want them to "mature" or "become relevant" or whatever just drive me nuts. The reason I loved Together so much was that it was a new take on OPERA, not crappy adult contemporary songs! "You've Got the Love" is just horrible.
I'm so sorry Jonathan and Charlotte, I won't be listening to this album very often. I will definitely listen to your future individual projects, provided they are true to "Together", the style with which I fell in love. There is no question that Jonathan is star in opera, and that Charlotte can be wonderful as well, provided her song choices mesh well with her voice!
I wish you both luck in the future!
