A terrific insight into the history of the WWE!
on 1 July 2014
This is the DVD presentation to celebrate WWE's 50th anniversary. This 3 disc boxset is perfect for the WWE fan. From its humble beginnings as a territory owned by Vincent Jesse McMahon, to the phenomenal product you have today, owned by Vincent Kennedy McMahon. You have the narrator go through the history while stars from the past comment on their memories of the company during their era. Surprisingly you don't have an input from Vince himself, but you do have comments from The Undertaker, which is definitely a rarity. included are posthumous comments from the wrestlers that had passed away over the last 10 years, Although there was a lot of original content in the documentary, some of the clips used, (not including posthumous ones) were clearly lifted from previous DVD documentaries. Memorable moments in WWE's past are mentioned, WWE's Steroid trial scandal, The infamous Montreal Screwjob - although very little is actually mentioned. As Shawn Michaels jokes - there are lots of books and dvds that talk about it so comments from him aren't required here. Also talked about is Kansas City. May 1999. Fans will know what that alludes too.
The 2nd and 3rd discs included key matches and moments from WWE's vast history.
Bruno Sammartino's match with 'Superstar' Billy Graham,
Wrestlemania III's Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant - only this is from an arena camera and with no commentary - so you almost get the feel of actually being there.
The very first Royal Rumble Match from 1988.
A match from the very first episode of Raw - Koko B. Ware vs Yokozuna
The Birth of Austin 3:16 Stone Cold vs Jake The Snake Roberts at King of The Ring 1996
The Montreal Screwjob match Survivor Series - 1997
The Raw Mike Tyson and Stone Cold promo from - 1998
Triple H vs The Rock on an episode of Smackdown - 1999
Vince announces the purchase of WCW on Raw - 2001
Icon vs Icon
The Rock vs Hollywood Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania X8 - 2002
Battle of The Billionaires Match - Hair vs Hair Match
Bobby Lashley vs Umaga at Wrestlemania 23 -.2007
A Six man tag team match from one of WWE's Tribute To Troops - 2008
CM Punk's famous Pipe-Bomb promo from 2011
Finally CM Punk vs John Cena on Raw 2013 #1 Contender's Match to Face The Rock at Wrestlemania!
All in all this is a phenomenal insight into the History of WWE, and the extra matches and promos are a terrific addition.
