Not the most reliable Shredder...
6 July 2016
I worked my way through 3 of these over the course of 4 months. The first one failed with a loud crack when I fed a large branch (about 25mm thick - well below the 40mm max). On inspection the cutting wheel mounting had distorted with the result that the blade impacted the cast casing. The second suffered a similar fate and this time the actual cast casing had cracked. The final one would not feed very well and it became apparent that the plastic casing did not quite line up with the metal casing resulting in branches getting stuck on an internal lip.
When it did work it was acceptable, but you do have to spend a fair amount of time ensuring that what you feed into it is straight, otherwise it is difficult to get the branches to feed freely through the shredder. As many have said the small bag for collecting chippings is a joke. As a shredder it's just about ok, but I couldn't recommend it on the basis of quality control and reliability/robustness.
