Considering the love lavished upon Cherry Ghost elsewhere on this website, I was surprised to see the lack of reviews here for Simon Aldred's recent solo debut. Birdy fans will be already familiar with Aldred's song-writing prowess: this is the man responsible for People Help the People. And to fans of either of the aforementioned artists Invasion of Love should appeal. Expertly-crafted songs permeate: this is a disc of sweet and subtle synth-sprinkled pop with great choruses.
I loved Cherry Ghost's debut but their subsequent album never did it for me in the same way. This however is brilliant. Genuinely one of my favourite albums in years. Fantastically songs with a modern take on 80s synth.
One of my favourite records of the last few years, this lush collection of electro-soul from Cherry Ghost frontman Simon Aldred never seems to get old. Stand out tracks for me include 'Fingers Through The Glass', 'Sorrow', 'Lovin' Arms' and 'My Cruel Heart'. I honestly don't know why it doesn't have more reviews on here. This record is a masterpiece.
