There is a reason this album is held in such high regard. It is perfect from start to finish. Each track has the typical Depeche Mode atmosphere, and stand-out tracks like "Policy of Truth" and "Enjoy The Silence" are just the tips of the metaphorical iceberg. Each track provides a different feel, and yet they all fit together as one coherent mass. Fantastic album, and Depeche Mode's best in my view
And so opens Violator and for the next 45 minutes or so you experience the greatest electronic album ever recorded by anyone. Anywhere. Ever. The sound is immaculate, the vocals are just a perfect match for the synths and let's face it, these are amongst the best songs Gore has penned and amongst the best arrangements and sounds Wilder ever created (although Sofad was probably his highlight)
No one else can get away with a single note riff like DM do during Halo.
