Love and betrayal are multi layered, like sweet Turkish filo pastry sweets. This story, however short, is flooded with textures and tastes: the haunting emotions of close relationships. And like baklava, one monent crunchy, one moment sweet, this story gently weaves between the joy of family life to the sadness. I love Lahiri's work and this is just another example of the mellifluousness of her prose. Enjoyable and heartbreaking at the same time.
