Although the band roars at times like a really good big band should, there are a few moments when the recording is not very well defined, particularly on 'Four Brothers', and the trumpet section is not as well balanced in the overall recording, due, one can only assume, to being live, even an all star line-up can't make up for the faults in recording. I can only think that the musicians knew they were going to play what they really wanted to, as Woody has always played great music, 'The Band That Plays The Blues' always employing top players.

Wow, my husband loved this cd and at such a great price. So pleased that he saw it advertised in Jazz Journal. Fabulous purchase.

A very enjoyable CD let down by the atmospherics from the aeroplanes flying over. Good to hear Kamuca and Lanphere.
