Not bad, but a bit boring
on 11 November 2002
On the back of all the glowing reviews from Amazon and others, I felt compelled to buy the album. I got the setup right - low lights, comfy sofa - ready for the feelings of Icelandic expansiveness promised by everyone. And... bit of an anti-climax, really.
Now don't get me wrong. It's not a bad album, it's just nothing particularly special. My main gripe is that it's all very "samey" - I struggle to tell the difference between one song and another. Now perhaps that's part of the point of the album (it is, after all, called () with all untitled tracks), but to me it smacks a bit of of lack of creativity. Also, the tracks aren't that intersting to me, and I never cried or got those big feelings that others have felt.
So to sum up I give this album 3 stars - it's not bad, but then it's not brilliant either.
