This book is a must read for anyone regardless of whether or not you have followed the blog. A Year in Lush Places is witty and descriptive allowing you to form a clear image of the Enchanted Village and the people who live there. More in depth than the blog it gives you an insight into Maddies thoughts and feelings as well as being able to follow all the goings on in the village. There is a running theme of the up n downs of Mr & Mrs Griggs relationship throughout the book and by the end you find yourself willing them for a happy ending. This book made me chuckle a lot and laugh out loud at times whilst wondering what it would be like to live in a village full of such characters. Highly enjoyable, humorous and exciting I would most definitely recommend this book.
This book about the "enchanted village" is truly enchanting. Full of humour, love and good natured gossip about her neighbours I fell in love with both Maddie Griggs and the people who reside in this remote Dorset village. Based on true life and real people, to whom she gives nicknames, the author makes ordinary rural living extraordinary. My favourite book of the year.
A wonderful humorous yet poignant story of village life. It shows Maddie Griggs as a lover of nature and people, as well as a storyteller of orinary events that become interesting and out of the ordinary.
