Better second half and is a grower
on 29 July 2013
I've never quite made my mind up about Boards of Canada, principally because that trademark oscillating sound leaves me feeling a bit queasy, and I think they are inconsistent. This album hasn't made me feel any different. I suppose i keep coming back because they are an interesting outfit, and 'Geogaddi' was pretty cool. But I found myself losing interest in this before half the album had played out. That was unfortunate, as the second half of the album picks up and made me come back to try it all again. Third and fourth time round I started to like it a lot more, however, it just doesn't do it for me. I think if you're a confirmed fan, you'd rate this higher, but for me it's three stars, no more, no less.
