Still the best one since 2013
on 24 September 2017
This is nearly 5 yrs on and the picture on this modest tablet that cost me £100 is still superior to any of the 2017 models of the All New Fire. My partner got a Fire 7. It's not as crisp, it's a low internal storage and feels cheap in comparison. The old way of having a home screen and carousel is so much easier. I have 64gb internal storage so great for Amazon Prime. The All New Fire has only 8gb and although there is an ad card slot and up to 256gb cards are available, that's no good if your video provider apps allow downloads for offline viewing on the device internal storage only. That is the main reason for wanting memory for your Amazon products. Hopefullybbyvthe time you read this, Amazon will allow apps to run apps and download films etc to the sd card, even if they restrict portability to other devices invalid be good. In the meantime I'm happy with my superior tablet. The new ones are too long and narrow and aren't right for books or films, especially letterbox formats. I might 've tempted to get a reconditioned hdx7 or hdx8.9, otherwise ill hop to a Samsung tablet and at least get the full Android experience and Google Play Store apps as well as a superior picture.
Amazon did a good thing making a sturdy but cost effective mid range tablet but then left it all behind in the early 10s when the Internet was good, with less fake news, no listicles, the major newspapers could mostly spell correctly and Facebook was for keeping in touch with real life friends rather than a massive human endeavour to find fake love or market yourself. Yes, my little hdx7 reminds me of recent but retro happier times when I believed that technology was changing the world for the better
