This is a review for the deluxe edition of Agnetha Faltskog's latest album which includes a bonus DVD of excellent material.
I have already reviewed the original release of the CD, so I'll refrain from discussing it again, only to add that two years on, it still sounds good and has that longevity feel, (Only gripe is that it could have included some extra mixes of the singles that came out after the album's release).
The DVD is a welcome edition, notably the BBC documentary, Agnetha: ABBA and after....which is a really honest and accurate account of Agnetha's career before, during and after ABBA. It features some fascinating insight, not just from Agnetha, but from Benny and Bjorn aswell. It's a shame there's no contribution from Frida, but this is eased by glorious tributes from Gary Barlow and Tim Rice, who both obvously have great respect and admiration for Agnetha's underated talents. Interesting how both Bjorn and Benny re-tell their encouragement for her to write for ABBA and include Agnetha composed material for ABBA albums. She retorts that she felt too intimidated by their songwriting talents to contemplate the effort. Other interesting titbits like how Bjorn and Agnetha feel about the subject matter of "The Winner Takes it All" and how much truth are in the lyrics.
One of the best ABBA related documentaries and a lovely tribute to a true talent and original representative of legendary classic pop music.
Essential for fans of ABBA/Agnetha and worth the price of interest for anyone else.
