Puppy stuck sitting - Now fixed - Please read!
on 24 August 2014
I bought this second hand as I felt it was a bit too pricey to fork out all the money for it and unsure my 3 year old would like it as it's aimed at a bit older children. However she loves it, was a bit scared when it eventually flipped but she loves it now she knows it's not scarey.
When we first got it it was working fine for the first 20 minutes, trying to get it to sit for ages with no luck, and then...it started to sit, we were so excited and then the worst happened... It got stuck trying to sit and the same ding sound kept playing over and over. So after looking online I tried to reset it by holding the 2 buttons on the head and nose until it beeped, switched off and back on...no luck. Tried 2 buttons, nothing, tried the bone and ball with and without holding buttons. By this point I felt like there was nothing I could do. Hearing a 3 year old say "can we play with the teksta puppy?" was sad, because I had to say no, unless she played wig it switched off and there's not much you can do with it switched off. Then I thought last attempt after watching a YouTube video and seeing one review on another website....new batteries. I took out the Panasonic batteries and put in Duracell ultra power batteries, the ones with the power tester on them, as they seemed to be the most high end batteries I could get in the shop. Inserted the batteries with great worry, put the puppy on the hard floor (just in case..), pressed the power button and...hey presto! It beeped, woofed, and continued sitting...the eyes were flashing, it sat for about 10 seconds and then the thing flipped! Gave me a fright but with great happiness and a happy toddler, I can now say the puppy is working!
I would advise all the people who have had problems with the puppy like I have, stuck sitting and won't respond, looked like a pure malfunction, try getting high end batteries. I thought, new batteries...why would that make a difference? But it does make a difference, and it seems like some batteries can give the puppy an error and that's why it stops working (don't ask me how!)
Very happy mummy and toddler and teksta puppy! :-)
