I could quite easily play this at any time of the year. It has some songs that are clearly associated with summer along with plenty of feel-good songs that are particularly appropriate in summer even without a specific summer theme. There are also some sad songs that detract from the general feel-good mood, although they are great songs in their own right. Perhaps they were they were originally hits in the summer months, although that of itself does not make them summer songs.
Two tracks each by Andy Williams, Perry Como, Rosemary Clooney, Tony Bennett, Paul Anka and Neil Sedaka, plus famous tracks by Bobby Vinton, Frank Sinatra, Vic Damone, Johnnie Ray and Doris Day give this collection a solid base.
Of course I love those tracks but they aren't the reason I bought this collection. I noticed some less obvious tracks like Thirteen men (Ann-Margret), Dungaree doll (Eddie Fisher), Pink pedal pushers (Carl Perkins) and the original versions of We'll sing in the sunshine (Gale Garnett) and Love is strange (Mickey and Sylvia).
There is much else to enthuse about that I haven't mentioned on this wonderful and mostly feel-good compilation.
I bought it as a present to my wife. It's a beautiful selection of old tunes, guaranteed to make you feel cheerful, romantic and happy! Timeless classics from Andy Williams, Perry Como, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka, Rosemary Clooney ,Nancy Ames etc. And i bought it for a very good price. A return to those good old "innocent" days-many of us know them only from the movies.
