It's always nice to come across a new book about the Rolling Stones particularly one that covers an area not normally represented. This book focuses on 50 years of live performances and looks at the various stores that they have undertaken over that period with commentary also about some of the records released to accompany those tours.I found the book an easy read in many ways races along at too fast a pace. I did enjoy reading it but in truth that was relatively little in by way of new information for me and I suspect that it's a book that would be of more interest to the casual Rolling Stones fan that the more seasonsed aficionado. Nevertheless a decent stab at the subject and good value.
Mr Hass managed to convey the real story of the Stones as a live band by concentrating his narrative on the details of their tours. Their ups and downs, which are, by now, the stuff of the legend, are all there, but placed in their true perspective in this book, because the essence of the Rolling Stones has always been about live performance. The reader will find here an exciting and unique narrative of their remarkable achievement as a touring band that spans an incredible half a century of live performances. It definitely the best Stones book i ever read....ENJOY it !
