Frustrating but still draws you in and holds attention...
on 10 November 2013
After all the drama of the first book in this series (The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden) I was hoping that there would be some kind of resolution in this book... and there was. It just wasn't what I was expecting.
In fact, it really annoyed me!
If you read my review of book 1 you will see that I was really frustrated with the pacing of the book and that it felt like forever before anything really happened. Towards the end of book the pace picked up and I felt like we were getting somewhere and then bam!
The cliffhanger ending.
I knew things would be difficult in this book for Callie and Kayden after that ending but I just didn't expect it to be as difficult as it was.
It truly felt like for every 3 steps forward Callie and Kayden had made (in book 1) they took 2 steps back in this one...
It felt like they hadn't went back to how they were in the beginning of their relationship but for progress to occur they had to retake everything they lost between the end of book 1 and the mid-way point of this one and then they could move forward again.
Does that make sense?
By the end of the book they were getting help for their individual issues - and that's good - but there wasn't really a happy ever after type ending for them, which I so desperately wanted.
It was also infuriating that the "bad guys" in all this just seemed to get off with all the bad things they had done! Where is the justice? Yes, by the end of the book Callie and Kayden are moving on, they're doing really well, the axe is swinging for the wrong-doers but it doesn't remove the fact that there is no firm resolution.
I guess that's why there is going to be a novella titled The Resolution of Callie and Kayden. Perhaps between that book and Luke's up and coming story I'll see the justice and resolution I crave for this couple who I fell in love with.
I still recommend these books to New Adult fans who like a good dose of angst in their books but I have to say that I'm doubting that The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden and this offering The Redemption of Callie and Kayden are going to be books I'll re-read... While I like them, they aren't making my favourites list.
