The second disc in this reissued/ remastered version of Transatlantic Sessions Series 2 is as wonderful as all the others, with some stand out tracks. Michael Doucet, of Beausoleil, performs a magnificent 'La Danse de la Vie', Ricky Skaggs likewise with 'Talk About Suffering' and his lady Sharon White contributes a stately 'Mansion On The Hill'. I could list them all, but the gem in this collection is John Martyn's superlative version of Ben Harper's 'Excuse Me Mister', with Danny Thompson and several members of the ensemble making it just about the best of John's performances of this song. Get the DVD too to enjoy it in its full splendour. I can't recommend Transatlantic Sessions enough, and live it's even better. Watch out for the next tour (but not before I've got my ticket).

The track list on Amazon isn't quite right. The correct listing is:

Tribute To Peadar O'Donnell/ Takarazaka (Jerry Douglas)
Trouble In The Fields (Maura O'Connell)
Piobaireachd Dhomhnaill Dhuibh (Black Donald's March) (Ishbel MacAskill)
The World Is What You Make It (Paul Brady)
The Glass Of Beer Set Western Lift/ Traditional Reel/ Glass Of Beer (Sharon Shannon)
Nobody Wins (Radney Foster)
Boots Of Spanish Leather (Nanci Griffith)
Violet Tulloch - Queen Of Lerwick (Aly Bain)
Hummingbird (Eddi Reader)
La Danse De La Vie (The Dance Of Life) (Michael Doucet)
Forty Shades Of Green (Roseanne Cash)
Talk About Suffering/ Incorporating A Traditional Reel (Ricky Skaggs and Aly Bain)
Cure For Life (James Grant)
The Mansion On The Hill (Sharon White)
Excuse Me Mister (John Martyn)
Urban Air (Ronan Browne)

A present for my husband. He enjoyed it so much we booked to see Transatlantic Sessions at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, on 4th February. A really great evening.

I had already bought all the series three CD's which are my all time favourites but Series 2 comes a close second to these.
