Not a bad read but irritating elements
16 June 2014
I read a lot of books in this genre and the actual storyline is as good as most but I found the author's attempts at wit actually very tedious and annoying. The story was going along fine until the 4th chapter when the main character's thoughts suddenly took on characters of their own, and from then on it became - in my view - rather silly. In all good fiction there is the suspension of disbelief which helps carry the tale through, and even with such awful scenarios Its possible to inject humour, but this device detracts from the story. Take that element out and its not a bad read. I had bought two more novels by this author but I don't think I will bother to read them. They are too irritating.
